Abstract The Report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China points out implementing the strategy of rural revitalization, and the focus of our country's future concern is the development and revitalization of rural areas.Traditional handicraft industry, as an important form of agricultural economic development, plays an important role in promoting the economic development of rural areas. In the current situation, it is an important practical problem that how to innovate the traditional handicraft industry. Xuchang village in Lankao county, Henan province, China, takes the production of national musical instruments as its characteristic industry. Musical instruments production and sales have been characterized by scale, maturity and specialization, and musical instruments industry has become a pillar industry with distinctive features in regional development. This paper depicted the process of the emergence and development of traditional handicraft in less developed agricultural areas, and explored the mechanism of influencing factors by taking the example of Xuchang village in Lankao county, Henan province, China.
